A promise is a promise!

Yesterday I promised to include a picture of Don. Does he look relaxed? He should when the most difficult decision this morning has been what to order for breakfast. This is mid-morning at The Playa!

Late afternoon walk

I wanted this picture on the previous blog but it didn't work. Meira wanted a picture of me, maybe tomorrow one of Grandpa! We are alive and well.

Fresh Produce and taking a walk

These are some of the wonderful fruits and vegetables you can get here. You do have to soak all of it for 15 minutes in either an iodine solution, vinegar or chlorox to make sure all ecoli, etc is removed. The carrots, grapefruit and g. onions are amazing. The gala apples are from Washington state!

After all the hard work of buying and purifying these purchases we went for a late afternoon walk. Around the time that the sun sets the breeze really picks up on the water and so I put on jeans and sweater as we were going to be home after dark. We walked to the cathedral, sat and meditated for a while then went to The Panama for coffee and flan. I made a wonderful tortilla soup for dinner tonight and it's time to watch some Jeapardy or Wheel of Fortune!

I finally figured out how to download pictures. Enjoy!

No Comprendo?????

Thought I had a cleaning woman coming today so of course I tidied up, got out cleaning supplies and waited, and waited, and waited. Found out from the office that there was a mix up and I was told that it will be next Tuesday, not this one. I guess that means Don and I will do some cleaning tomorrow especially taking on the windows, all 12 panes. The air here is so filled with salt that the windows get coated and you can't see out of them very well. I know you are probably thinking "quit complaining, what else have you got to do with your time". Well that's not the point. The point is that I've been working on getting someone to clean since we arrived here and somehow can't comprehend why it is so difficult to arrange. I'll let you know whether we ever do get this worked out! In the meantime, happy cleaning!

Yoga on the rooftop

My friend Nadine lives in the penthouse suite of our apartment building and has an amazing deck 7 floors above the ground with a full view of the Pacific. Nadine is one of these people who organizes all of these activities and is great at getting people to join in. One of the things she has organized is a one hour yoga session on Monday afternoons. I have gone the past two Mondays and enjoy exercising while watching the sunset over the ocean. As an extra incentive Nadine has wine and cheese for everyone who attends. I've realized that the setting does make a big difference and I'm not sure that yoga will be as wonderful anywhere else. I know, I'll try to get pictures downloaded soon!

Eating like a Mexican

While in Mazatlan last year I purchased a Mexican cookbook. I decided to bring it along to help me in the purchasing of groceries so that I could cook meals that used the local ingredients. It feels good to break up the eating out with some homecooked meals. Last night we feasted on aquajas para cocido, res. which in english translates to beef short ribs chipotle. I improvised by adding potatoes and carrots and it tasted wonderful. Wish you could have been here to try it!

Just the two of us

Woke up way too early this morning and by 8:3o Don and I were on our morning walk . Was feeling pretty good about myself and thought I was done for the day when Nadine came and asked whether I was going to water arobics at The Playa Hotel. I agreed to that so by noon today I had quite a bit to celebrate.

They have the most amazing revels here called Magnum and they probably could give a haagendaaz a run for its money. Needless to say I had one to celebrate and probably negate all the good I had just done.

Don probably sold his beloved motorcycle to our neighbor as he cannot bring it back to Canada with him. We will be sad when it goes, but it seems like a good solution.
